We don't own these images

Figurines despite all their finesse and attempts by their crafters to show movement nevertheless always seem to fall short of lively or action packed. However, challenging these perceptions of immobile figurines is Martin Klimas project where he drops porcelain figurines whose impact through sound triggers the camera lens to snapshot the moment. It is in this moment of shattering chaos that the figurines seem to be liberated from their stoic states, they seem to literally break away from the very foundation that holds them still. Klimas photographs provides a means to  re-contextualize the very framework of our perceptions and additionally, his work seems to charge these porcelain figures in their final moments with a breath of energy and movement that seems to defy the very idea that  figurines are just for “bookshelf display.”
